Sponsorship

Sponsorship

Sponsorship is the best and simplest way you can help children in the Ngong Community. Sponsoring a child means you are supporting their education and the money will go directly to funding that specific child’s fees which include

  • Uniforms
  • Meals
  • Medical fees
  • School supplies

As a sponsor you will receive regular communication including reports on the child’s grades, photos, and letters from your student so that you are able to stay up to date on their growth.

Often families cannot afford these fees and so the child does not go to school.  Instead children spend their days on the streets and in the slums where they are vulnerable to drugs, violence, and abuse.  When you commit to sponsoring a child you are committing to that child’s education throughout secondary school. Depending on the age of the child you are sponsoring, the cost per year and length of commitment will differ.

2-5 years old

They can be enrolled in the Living Positive Kenya Daycare. This will cost 16,000 Kenyan Shillings per year. This cost will include daily lunches for the child sponsored.

6-13 years old: Primary School

There are 3 options for Primary School:

  1. Public School: 20,000 Kenyan Shillings per year. (About $230 USD, depending on exchange rate)
  2. Private School: 35,000 Kenyan Shillings per year. (About $357 USD, depending on exchange rate)
  3. Boarding School: 55,000 Kenyan Shillings per year. (About $650 USD, depending on exchange rate)

Boarding school means the child will be living at school for 3months at a time, in a structured environment away from the streets.  This also always for the mothers to focus on their programming and businesses while the child is in school.  Every 3 months the child will be home for a month long visit.  We highly recommend this option for sponsorship.

14+ years old: Secondary School

Secondary school will be discussed on a child by child basis as the fees depends on the school.
